Our Story

Our story

We started PrimaGround because we couldn’t find a supplement brand we trusted enough to take ourselves.

Every label said “clean.” Every founder said “evidence-based.” Nobody seemed willing to show their lab reports, name their farms, or admit which ingredients didn’t have the research to back them up. So in 2022, in a borrowed kitchen in Brooklyn, we built one that did.

Sourcing

We visit every farm we buy from.

Our turmeric comes from a single co-op in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Our ashwagandha is KSM-66, harvested from a 90-hectare biodynamic farm in Madhya Pradesh that we’ve worked with since the beginning. We fly out twice a year. We meet the growers. We see the soil tests.

It’s slower and more expensive than buying commodity botanicals from a broker — and it’s the only way we know how to be sure that what’s on the label is what’s in the jar.

Independent third-party laboratory testing
Testing

Every batch is tested by labs we don’t own.

Every production lot is sent to two independent ISO 17025–accredited laboratories before it ever reaches our warehouse. We test for active-compound potency, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury), microbial contamination, and — for our botanicals — adulterants and species verification by DNA barcoding.

The lab reports for every batch are published on the product page. If a batch fails, we destroy it. We’ve destroyed three batches so far. Nobody who buys from us pays for those mistakes — we do.

Amber glass refillable PrimaGround bottles
Packaging

Glass-first, refillable, low-impact by design.

Our amber bottles are made from 40% post-consumer recycled glass and protect light-sensitive actives better than any plastic alternative. Refill pouches ship in 100% recycled, plastic-free mailers and use 87% less material than a new bottle.

It would be cheaper to ship in HDPE. We don’t.

Our promise

Four things we will never do

Proprietary blends

Every active dose is on the label, to the milligram. If we won’t tell you what’s in it, you shouldn’t take it.

Influencer-driven claims

We will never put a formulation out because a celebrity asked for it. If the peer-reviewed research isn’t there, neither are we.

Auto-shipped surprises

Subscriptions are paused, edited, or canceled in two clicks. No dark patterns, no cancellation phone calls.

Cheap filler ingredients

No magnesium stearate, no titanium dioxide, no silicon dioxide, no carrageenan. Period.

Read the magazine before you buy.

We publish long-form, footnoted reporting on what actually works in nutrition, sleep, stress and supplementation. No paywalls, no affiliate links, no AI-written filler.
